Course Description
This three day course is intended for personnel with previous small boat handling experience wishing to improve and adapt their skills for fast rescue boat operations. This course is a combination of computer based training, classroom lecture and underway practical exercises.

Course Certification
This course certified by the U.S. Coast Guard and complies with the STCW 95 Regulation VI/2 Paragraph 1.
A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the assessment.
Admission
To qualify for admission, you must:
- Hold a Certificate for Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, or a
- Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft, or a
- Lifeboatman Certificate;
- Be 18 years of age or older and in overall good health;
- Be medically fit to under take the practical exercises of the course.
The practical aspects of this course may be physically demanding, and full participation is required to receive a certificate,
Every effort is made to provide as much attention as possible to individual student needs. Class enrollment varies from 6 to 18 depending on the time of year. The usual student/instructor ratio for rescue boat handling is 6 to 1.
Attendance Requirements
A student must attend 100% of the program. This requirement is strictly adhered to regardless of whether the absence is excused or unexcused.
Class Schedule
Classes meet daily, Monday through Wednesday from 0800 to 1700. Additional class time may be added as needed. Lunch is from 1200 to 1300.
Grading Policy
Tests & Examinations
Examinations will be scheduled during each course. A passing grade of 70% is required to receive a certificate.
Practical Assessments
Practical assessments consist of the required tasks outlined in STCW 96 Regulation VI/2 Paragraph 1.A. The competencies will be demonstrated then the students will have to practice before the assessments will be conducted. These assessments are pass/fail.
Students' Responsibility
Students are required to observe proper standards of personal conduct. Justification for dismissal from the school include any action considered offensive by the faculty, the student body or community at large. Proper dress, including shoes, shirt and pants or shorts must be worn in the classroom. Protective clothing and lifejackets will be provided, but you will require warm clothing to wear while underway. A change of clothes is recommended.
Certification
Successfully passing the written exam and practical assessments in compliance with Coast Guard standards will qualify the graduate as certification for Operator of Fast Rescue Boats.
Refund Policy
- If the application is not accepted by Cap Sante International, all payments made by the applicant will be refunded.
- If the applicant cancels within seven days of the course start date then all payments will be refunded.
Students terminating training after the beginning of the course are obligated to pay the full amount of the course price.
- Applicable refunds are made within thirty (30) days after the student fails to enter or terminates training.
Lodging
Cap Sante International has arranged with the hotel association in Anacortes to provide a mariner discount while taking courses at the school. A list of participating hotels can be provided upon registration.
